I want to purchase the GO2, but I don’t have a prescription. What do I do?

Contact your physician or healthcare provider for a prescription.

What products require a prescription?

Only the GO2 requires a physician’s prescription. The GO2 Achieve product does not require a prescription.

What is the difference between the GO2 and GO2 Achieve?

The GO2 Achieve is for anyone interested in knowing their oxygen saturation and heart rate. Applications would be for use during exercise or daily activities; during air travel for the passenger, crew or the pilot; and for extreme sports, such as mountain climbing.

GO2 Achieve is not considered a medical device and does not require a prescription. It is mainly used in the home, but it is built with the same technology as the GO2. Both the GO2 and GO2 Achieve will give you equally accurate measurements of your oxygen saturation and heart rate.

The user guide for the GO2 tells you how to use the device in conjunction with your Medical Professional’s guidance to manage your medical condition. Therefore, the FDA categorizes the GO2 as a medical device and features an Rx label. In order for Nonin to process your GO2 order, we must have a prescription. If your health insurance will cover the cost of the device, we recommend purchasing the prescription version through our website, and faxing us your prescription with order number to 1-866-971-9355.

Will my purchase of a Nonin GO2 Finger Pulse Oximeter be covered by my Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or my Health Savings Account (HSA)?

Generally speaking, a pulse oximeter should be covered under each of these plans if it is "medically necessary." Check with your plan administrator to find out the process for reimbursement. Nonin will provide a receipt for the purchase for submission to your plan administrator.

Does Nonin accept insurance or Medicare?

Nonin does not file insurance claims or work directly with insurance companies; therefore we cannot place any type of claim for you. It is best to work with your provider to find out whether the GO2 is a reimbursable item. We include an invoice in every shipment that can be used for submission of possible reimbursement; however, Nonin does not guarantee reimbursement.

Does Nonin accept fax or email orders?

No. Please order online at Nonin.com/Buy-Pulse-Oximeter.

We only accept a fax for your prescription to complete the online purchase of a Nonin GO2

Does Nonin charge sales tax?

Sales tax is added to your order if you reside in the same state as our organization. This includes Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia. Sales tax is excluded from prescription products shipping to the following states: Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey and New York.

Colorado and Oklahoma Sales Tax

We do not collect sales or use taxes in all states. For states imposing sales or use taxes, your purchase is subject to use tax unless it is specifically exempt from taxation. Your purchase is not exempt merely because it is made over the Internet or by other remote means. Many states require purchasers to file a sales/use tax return at the end of the year reporting all of the taxable purchases that were not taxed and to pay tax on those purchases. Details of how to file these returns may be found at the websites of your respective taxing authorities.

For Oklahoma purchasers, the tax may be reported and paid on the Oklahoma individual income tax return [Form 511] or by filing a consumer use tax return [Form 21-1]. The referenced forms and corresponding instructions are available on the Oklahoma Tax Commission website, www.tax.ok.gov.

We may be required by Colorado law to provide purchasers an end-of-year summary of Colorado purchases in order to assist purchasers in filing their tax returns. We also may be required by law to provide the Colorado Department of Revenue with a report of the total amount of all your purchases at the end of the year. We will not provide any transactional details to the Department other than the total amount of your purchases.

Some customers have asked why these new requirements exist. We are required to provide the notice and the reports described above for Colorado purchases based on a Colorado law (HB 1193) enacted in February 2010 over our strong objections. We are required to provide the notice (but not the reports) above for Oklahoma purchases based on an Oklahoma law (HB 2359) enacted in June 2010.
