2500A VET Troubleshooting

2500A Vet

Unit will not turn on:

  1. Install four new batteries
  2. Verify correct polarity of the batteries (FIGURE 1)
  3. Disconnect any accessories attached to the device
  4. Verify battery contacts, inspect for corrosion/clean contacts

Unit will not display readings:

  1. Verify that only Nonin accessories are being used
  2. Verify integrity of all batteries, verify battery polarity, is “Battery Low‟ indicator illuminated (FIGURE 1)
  3. Try another sensor
  4. If an extension cable is being used, remove and try again using only the sensor

Unit will not hold memory or date and time settings

  1. Clock and calendar settings should be checked or reset when batteries are removed or replaced
  2. Batteries must be replaced within two minutes to avoid the loss of memory
  3. The loss of memory can only be caused by loss of power to the unit. Check for visible signs of corrosion and/or clean battery contacts. Check for proper polarity of installed batteries
  4. Verify that advance button is being pressed as unit is turned on when downloading. The unit should display “CLR NO”
  5. A minimum of two minutes data is required for the unit to store the information to memory

Unit is displaying erratic readings

  1. Follow steps in item #2 above
  2. Continuous flashing RED perfusion LED
  3. A “NO‟ signal at the sensor site. Examine the patient: reposition the sensor or elect an alternate sensor site
  4. Excessive motion at the sensor site may be prohibiting the 2599A VET from acquiring a consistent pulse signal. Eliminate or reduce the cause of the motion artifact or reposition the sensor to a sensor site where motion is not present
  5. A sensor failure. Replace the sensor

Flashing YELLOW perfusion LED

  1. The quality of the pulse signal at the sensor site is marginal.
  2. Examine the patient: reposition the sensor or select an alternate sensor site.

You are unable to obtain a green blinking pulse quality display

  1. Low patient pulse strength; or the sensor site is poorly perfused; or the sensor is not correctly
positioned. Reposition the sensor on the patient
  2. The sensor is attached too tightly, or tape or other items are restricting the pulse quality at the sensor site. Reapply the sensor, select an alternate sensor site, or remove the restrictive material from the sensor site
  3. Circulation is reduced due to excess pressure between the sensor and a hard surface
  4. Excessive ambient light. Reduce the ambient light, cover site
  5. Poor Patient circulation due to cold extremities – have patient exercise fingers or warm fingers with warm water.

2500A VET – Battery placement configurations:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the 2500A VET package assembly?

  • 2500A Pulse Oximeter
  • 2500A Operator’s Manual on CD
  • 2000T Pulse Oximeter Sensor
  • 4 AA-Size Alkaline Batteries

How do you know you’re getting an accurate reading?

The tricolor LED display (m) provides a visual indication of the pulse signal quality, while blinking at the corresponding pulse rate. This display changes colors to alert you to changes in pulse quality that may affect the readings: green indicates a good pulse signal, yellow indicates a marginal
pulse signal, and red indicates an inadequate pulse signal. Allow the 2500A VET to stabilize, observing about 10 seconds of continuous green-colored pulse quality before relying on the displayed values. It is common for the displayed values to fluctuate slightly over a period of several seconds. If the
pulse quality display blinks yellow or red, try another finger.

What kind of battery is used in the 2500A VET?

Four AA Alkaline or you can purchase the 2500C-UNIV Rechargeable NiMH Battery System.

How many hours of battery life can I expect?

Four AA alkaline batteries provide the device with approximately 80 hours of continuous operation, while the Rechargeable NiMH Battery Pack
provides approximately 40 hours of continuous operation.

How do you access the memory stored in device?

Nonin’s nVISION data management software and 1000MC serial cable will allow you to connect the 2500A VET to PC for downloading data and view
data.

Does this unit alarm?

Yes. Users may adjust the alarm limits for upper and lower SpO2 and Pulse Rate alarms and alarm volume.
